On a whim two days ago I turned on the toggle to download the developer beta on my software update page on my 15 Pro Max. It downloaded 18.1 but I think that is not the newest version because RCS support isn’t there and neither is the Apple Intelligence. However, the newer version isn’t being offered for download and I’m afraid I did something wrong. Any help would most appreciated. I think the only reason the option was there to download the beta was because I did it four or five years ago on a previous iPhone.

You are on the 18.1 beta track. Currently there are two beta tracks for iOS 18 (18.0 and 18.1).
You will be waiting for 18.1 beta 3 which should come next week.
But shouldn’t I have rcs support and apple intelligence with the current beta? I don’t and I thought that those were already features that have been released.

Incorrect title... Thread is about Artificial Intelligence and RCS support or no access to those features yet... Also, those features are limited to USA I think and you'll have to wait until your network provider supports RCS on iPhone...

I jumped out of the iOS 18.x beta since I have iPhone 13 Pro [currently running iOS q7.6] and I don't use Siri so Apple Intelligence is of no use to me...

18.1 developer beta 2 is the newest build of 18.1. There is a newer build of 18.0, but that is mostly just bug fixes that will be added to the next 18.1 beta. 18.0 is now feature-complete and 18.1 development should be speeding up soon.

  • RCS support is carrier specific, so if you don't have it, ask your cell phone carrier to add support for it.
  • For Apple Intelligence, Siri and device language need to be set to U.S. English. You should then see the feature in Settings and need to join the waitlist and wait for approval to enable the feature. Even with this enabled, most features are not part of the current beta and will continue to roll out in 18.2 through 18.4. Siri features should be done by spring 2025. Genmoji and Image Playground do not seem to be on the rumor roundups, and I wouldn't be surprised if they get pushed to 19.0.

15 Pro Max I did check the build number and I do have the beta two. I just think it’s weird that RCS isn’t working even though it’s turned on and neither is Apple Intelligence.

The person with Android phone must have RCS enabled in their phone. If not, it will simply go as SMS.
