I just updated iTunes to 9.0.3, and I used to make ringtones for free by setting a start and stop time, converting it to MP3, dragging it onto my desktop, changing the extension to .m4r, and then launching it back into iTunes.

I'm now finding that my free custom ringtones won't launch into iTunes.

Did they change something to prevent this from happening???

Custom ringtones in Garageband should still be possible, have you tried doing that if you have a Mac?

I don't have garage band unfortunately.

When I installed 10.6, I wiped things clean. I couldn't find my original install disks, therefore I'm out iLife.

Curious though, isn't it? I can't believe Apple would go out of their way to block something like this.
