The app opens and functions fine on iPhone but on Apple Watch it just says "Preparing your News..." I don't often use this app on Apple Watch and I don't believe I have opened it since I got this watch.

I have tried restarting both iPhone & Apple Watch and deleting and reinstalling the News app. Any other suggestions?

iPhone 16 Pro iOS 18.1
Apple Watch Series 10 watchOS 11.1

I came on here just for this! OK, I am glad someone else is reporting this. I did exactly what you did and still suffering the same issue. I had the "Live Activity" for News turned on and I thought that was it. I turned it off, rebooted and it is still "Preparing". So I wonder if it is an election glitch.

iPhone 16 Pro Max: 18.1
Apple Watch Ultra 11.1
Apple Watch Series 10 11.1

aside from rebooting and it still not working, it just all of a sudden did. I would have loved to have a tip but I am thinking it's an Apple server issue. BUT do let me know if it does start working for you.

BREAKING NEWS: as I am typing this, the ultra stopped working again. Working on the S10.

I had the same screen on my Ultra 2. More than likely, it is an Apple based problem.

... and got the word that "engineering is still looking into that, and the next watch OS update will take care of it."

emailed me a case number, which I'll hang on to.

So: there's the official word.

To clarify my comment, I meant that I was predicting Apple Support was going simply going to tell you to unpair and setup as new. Not that you hadn't or didn't know. Glad you were able to get them to create a case. Hoping they figure it out.

Yep. I got that, but thanks for the clarification anyway! :)
