Quite liking some of the changes and shortcuts in iOS 12 but the News app seems to have regressed.

I use News quite often, in iOS 11 I would select a story of interest and then swipe from left side to go back to my feed.

In iOS 12 we now have the list of ‘Following’ items on the left hand side of the screen and I can seemingly no longer swipe to go back.
It does allow swipe from right to go through the next stories but not from left.

Am I missing something? It does seem like a useful feature has disappeared.

Thanks.

If I’m understanding correctly: select story from “Today” > swipe left goes back to home screen... if reading the originally selected story but scroll to the bottom and select a new story/source then swipe back you’ll return to the previous story you were on then back to the home screen if swipe left again?

On my iPhone, I am able to swipe left to get back to topics if I am in a particular topic just like it did on iOS 11. However, the behavior has changed on the iPad to what you reference above...

EDIT - Did some testing on the iPad. Mine seems to be working now...Not sure what I did.

Also noticed that topics are no longer arranged by channels and topics separately and both being alphabetically arranged.

Sorry should have stated this is on iPad (9.7 and 12.9) not iPhone.

On iPhone (6s plus) it seems to work as it did before.
Swipe from left to right takes you back to the news feed.

Interesting. Where are you swiping for it to work?
