NewsStand 2.0 is out!

NewsStand, my favorite iPhone RSS reader, was just updated to 2.0. The store still shows 1.3.3, but you can pull down 2.0 if you already own it via App Update.

It's cleaner, more attractive, and much, much faster. Really nice update. Very pleased.

Must admit, it's a nice update. However I don't like the fact you can't choose the web shortening service - it defaults to tinyurl for twitter and I can't see a way to change it.

EDIT: I went ahead and bought it. It's very polished with tons of features.

I use both ByLine and NewsStand. Overall I really like NewsStand but a few things need to be addressed:

1. I have about 10 feeds stareed in Google Reader. NewsStand only shows one of them.

2. It would be nice to have the feed time displayed

3. When reading "all new" and I press "mark as read", the app should automatically return me to the home screen. As it is, the app only goes up one level which makes sense if I was reading in a particular feed. But if I am reading all new, then I should be returned to the home screen.

4. When reading all new, it would be nice to have the option to group the feeds by feed name or chronologically like Byline.

I only bought it yesterday and I am very glad I did!
I can now finally get rid of byline (never really liked much..). The thing i am mainly impressed with is how fast it syncs all my feeds, sooo much quicker than byline.

I used to use Newsstand but ditched it for Byline and Google Reader. After 2.0 came out, I tried NS again and have gone back to it. The integration with GR makes it a no-brainer.

I kind of like Byline better. I just brought the premium version of NetNewsWire mobile and I'm also a little disappointed in it not having the ability to read it cached offline version of webpages. That is a feature I've grown to love especially when taking the subway.

All I want from Byline is Instapaper support, twitter support, the ability to like an article and see who else likes it. After using Newsstand, NNW 2.0, and Byline I think that all are good in their own way but none is clearly set apart from the rest. All have nice interfaces but they all need to take full advantages of the abilities of Google Reader.

I have Byline but frankly, I stick to using the mobile version of Google Reader. It takes so long to sync to Google Reader to Byline the more feeds you add. The Google Reader page is so light and you only have to wait on the page to load (no syncing is needed). Byline is nice when you are in areas with spotty signals and can sync the entire list of feeds. But otherwise, the mobile Google Reader is still the fastest.
