Ok it's great. I've bought a few subscriptions and i love it but I'm wondering...each mag is about 200mb and I'm going to run out of room quite quickly...

The whole point of having them on the iPad would be lost once you have to delete them and not be able to access them again. It should work in the same way as iTunes in the cloud. Or you should be able to download it and then delete it (but still see a preview) when you need and then redownload it at another time.

Or is this the way it already is?

Sorry if it's an obvious question but it doesn't seem so clear cut.

I think Newstand stinks. That's my opinion and in no way do I feel that others should share my opinion.

I want to delete the app but can't. Any suggestions?

I share the same opinion. All it does is take up space. In and of itself it doesn't do anything. If I want magazines I can put them all in a folder together. I don't need a little stand for them to sit on, I want the darn think off my screen. It's plain old fashion bloatware that Apple has pummeled the competition for.

RE: OP

You can redownload issues I believe. I haven't seen an app without a restore purchased button or similar in a menu. Purchases will also get restored if you try to buy the same issue twice. What app are you using, I might use it as well.

I'm being destroyed financially now that pretty much every magazines and newspaper has an app and a subscription option. Bleak. At least I'm what seems to be the one guy getting use out of Newsstand.

Yeah I love it. There's a lot of mags there that I really like and subscriptions on most are reasonably priced, some are excellently priced and some are a joke and no different from the print version (ridiculous).

I can understand why someone might not want it if they had no reason for it though and there should be an easy way to delete it. Can you not do it via iTunes? Devices>Apps> and then uncheck the ones you don't want?

THe problem is once you delete the mags from the stand you have no record of them and it's easy to forget you have it. I need them as resources for my work and I would love to be able to have the entire back catalogue of 10-15 mags on there ready to reference but my 64gb iPad is already almost out of room as it is.

They should also be able to view on your computer also.

They need to sort something out pronto that it is stored on the cloud and you only download to view it. Once it has not been read for 10 days, or something like that, then it deletes but leaves a small preview in the stand to remind you what is there.

yeah, well I'm still running iOS 4.3.3 on a jailbroken iPad and suddenly my magazine apps disappeared... what gives?! I don't want to upgrade to iOS 5, but i still want to keep the subscriptions I'm paying for on the magazines that i love. But now they are all gone... is there a way to circumvent this?

Contact your subscription providers. They can support both Newsstand and stand alone apps if they choose to
