a better place
Looks interesting if your fascinated by the works of Dr. Frankenstein.

Quite possibly the worst aesthetics & design on a phone I have seen in years.

Nextbit boardroom meeting - "what do people want?"

Nextbit design team - "a sleek slim phone with sharp design & metal build"

Nextbit boardroom meeting - "Can you add a few circles that look completely out of place?"

Nextbit design team - "we can"

Nextbit boardroom meeting - "oh an make them off centre just to highlight how wrong they are?"

Nextbit design team - "sorted, anything else?"

Nextbit boardroom meeting - "Yeah can you drop sleek and metal for chubby and tpu plastic"

Nextbit design team - "we can"

Nextbit boardroom meeting - "Oh and turquoise. I like turquoise, can we make it in turquoise"

Nextbit design team - "OK we can, it may look strange"

Nextbit boardroom meeting - "we can offer just a black for those who don't like turquoise, but can we stick a cloud on the back, again off centre just to exaggerate how out of place it is ? "

Nextbit design team - "we can, ..... so we have square, plastic, off centred circles, strange shower head speaker combo, random cloud on back off-centred. right ?"

Nextbit boardroom meeting - "don't forget turquoise, everyone likes turquoise ? it screams class "

Nextbit design team - "sorted"

Introducing the Crayola inspired Nextbit Robin .....

End result - HIDEOUS !!!!!

I like the design of it, but usually things mostly based in "the cloud" never work that well.

I would think it preferable to figure out a way to compress applications on a device instead of putting everything on the cloud. I think it has a 64 GB hard drive(?), which for many users will render the cloud service moot.

Considering the unique way of managing apps/storage, you'd think this would be a great solution for phones with only 16GB onboard. Your last point seems spot on--most people I doubt come anywhere near using 64GB.

As far as the design/styling---I don't find it terrible either, though I do agree with MRU about the color choices on the one version. It certainly doesn't look that similar to anything else out in the market now. What would be pretty cool is if it was customizable, a la Moto X. Of course, as a start up, not realistic but I think it would a great feature.

The turquoise is a bit girly, but in a kinda "Rose Gold" kinda way. I think it definitely stands out in a crowded market.

Not a fan of the color design, but whatever. But the sharp square corner design NO WAY, that looks like it could hurt you :) Soft rounded corners like the Galaxy S line feel best in hand, very comfortable. Just not made from slippery glass, use a different material on the back to give it some grip.

I like the design, the OS (swore I would never buy anything but Nexus) also looks good.

I've ordered one, wonder how long it will take to clear the backlog of orders before mine gets shipped? Be a while I think!

The designer (I believe) was a former HTC guy. I don't hate it as much as you do. It's just different.

Lol, I think that's fitting. Seems like they were desperate to make a phone that looked "different", but tried a little too hard. It's ironic because HTC is about to go under specifically because they couldn't for the life of them invent something different, they just kept churning out the same phone over and over again and just did it again with the M10. This guy must have been seriously desperate to make something different after that heritage.

But seriously, it's not that terrible I suppose. The sharp edges are horrible, just as bad as they were on Lumia phones. The one touch power button is pretty cool, I just hope I need to open my phone with my right hand and not my left.
