Haven't seen any posting on the next generation of apple tv... i definitely want one.. but obviously a larger hard drive, DVR ability, is something i'm sure they're planning for in the 2nd generation, any time table when this could happen...

You haven't seen anything because they just recently updated them with the Take 2, and a bigger HDD.

If you need anything else, youll have to wait a while.

I think that the are going to try to keep the same hardware for as long as they can so that more thought can go towards the software

Instead of adding features that will make operating and defining the Apple TV more complicated, Apple should focus on making it more affordable in the next few years. A thinner model with no hard-drive could be the low-end Apple TV, the current models could be the mid-range and an Apple TV with Blue-Ray could be the high-end. Maybe the next Mac Mini could be repositioned as the high-end Apple TV.

HD upgrade

I know there are ways to do it yourself, but I would like to see Apple offer some sort of hard drive upgrade program for the AppleTV. I have the 40 gig which is fine for now, but as my media collection grows I may want an easy way to expand capacity.

It's been discussed here.
I thought that was a discussion about the wishlist for the next software upgrade. I think he was discussing the next generation AppleTV hardware. Then again, I only briefed over the other thread -- I guess I'll go reread.
