I’ve been wanting to replace my iPad Air 2 since early last year with a new Pro, but when apple just released a minor upgrade , I decided to wait. Rumours at the time suggested another launch in fall for a mini-led model, I now seriously regret my decision. I’m desperate to replace my now smashed iPad Air 2 but a new Pro has been ‘weeks away’ for months now, Jon prosser should lose more than his eyebrows for the anguish he’s put me through. I’m curious as to when people think the new iPad will arrive, should I throw in the towel and buy now, or hold on?

FYI Didn’t buy the air because I have cerebral palsy so Face ID will make my life sooo much easier

i think for an April event, we should hear something in the next week or so. Could always be a press release too off course. but im starting to lean towards summer or later

Going with press release, no point having a event for air tags, Apple TV and mini led iPads, be over in 10 minutes.

Unless they have some more goodies to show us. ??

I recommend setting yourself a hard deadline and stick to it. Very easy, when buying tech, is to keep waiting and then when it does appear there will be more rumors of something else! A lot of people on here gave out advice as if they actually knew the date new kit was coming out and all they have ever done is read 'leaks' like anyone else.

If it's a luxury item you can hang on for ages, if it's a necessity set yourself a date.

Why do people always ask someone on a fOrem what’s going to happen, what’s going to be released, or when is going to be released? No one here knows. It would be just guessing. So why bother asking?

Probably to relieve some anxiety. Real question, why click if you don’t want to read it?

Because the headline / subject isn’t necessarily giving away that it’s a purchase question.

Why?

But THEY might not know that, as they may not be regulars. This is a forum. People come here to discuss products. Why wouldn’t they ask?

Then there’s people like me who are certain know one has a clue but might still ask. It’s what people do, to pass time.

I'm a geek, I want to get excited about a potential new toy with like-minded people. I don't expect people here to give a definitive answer but this would be a good place for an educated guess, the site is called macrumors.

To the OP, if your disabilities prevent you from easily using your existing iPad to the fullest, then just buy the current IPP. I faced the same decision point. I have vision issues and other disabilities that made it difficult for me to use the 2020 12.9. I hardly ever used it. Two days ago I purchased the IPP 11. If a new one is released within my exchge period that would be great. If not, the 2020 IPP 11, will be just fine. Life is too short to agonize and there is no perfect time to buy.

At the accuracy of iPad Pro rumours for the last year or so, one can absolutely forget rumours at this stage.
That was at a time when very few people were suggesting that yet another iPad Pro would be released in the same year. Things are different now.
Fair enough, next question, why not ignore it instead of criticizing someone’s post?
Or why even participate in a forum called MacRumors? ?

Some people are just too cynical for no reason all the time.

My vote for April is more hopeful than anything else! Looking forward to upgrading my 10.5" iPad Pro purchased in 2017 and will be going for the 12.9". It has served me well and there's no actual reason to upgrade other than looking forward to having a new shiny toy! Current iPad will be passed to a friend, so it'll be in frequent use for a while yet.

Same here. My 2018 11” Pro meets my needs but I would like to add cellular and 5G. My daughter will inherit this one is my best justification, but the truth is I want new, fast and shiny.

Can't wait. I just got a Pencil 2 from apple as compensation for being asshats when I had trouble with my Airpod Pros. I have my sights on a 2021 11" iPad Pro unless they increase the price of it.

sorry to pile on i know others have already responded, but i feel compelled to add - this website isn't even just a forum it's called macRUMORS so it's literally the explicit, original purpose of this place - to discuss rumors and inherent guesswork lol. all people here do all year long is speculate about the iterative releases for the same products every year, damn i just made myself really depressed about my own life and how i spend my time by writing that out hahaha (including myself in the 'people' of course) ?

Lol, same. Mind, at least my Air 3 will actually be put to good use. It'll replace my mom's iPad Pro 9.7.

I’d wait. Rumors are that the next iPad Pro will be much more powerful than the current gen. As a geek like me I think you’d particularly appreciate that.
