I was planning to get an iPhone 3GS last week, but some event stopped me from getting one. Now I have to wait until June of 2010 to get one, so I was wondering when the next-gen will be released, the one that will come after the 3GS. If possible, can you please speculate at what new features might be included in this model?

1, it'll have a nice apple logo.
2, it'll have the functions of a phone.
3, it'll work as an iPod touch
4, it'll have a screen.

Wanna know more? Wait like the rest of us. Lol

its surprising that not much news is wandering around about the new iphone ..
may be because of the islate .
i dont know much either
but all i know is
its coming in june/july and
its got a 5mp camera
i also read some where there will be design changes..but not sure

You also will have to wait until Mar to begin seeing the frenzy of spy shots and speculation threads. By May, there will be a new iPhone 4 thread every day to every hour.

If I were you I would give an Android phone a close look. I think this platform is going to mature quickly over the next 6 months or year.
I've had my 3GS for almost a year and I think by the time my 2yr contract expires Droid, or Nexus will be a good choice to move to. I can't wait to get rid of iTunes!

Get rid of iTunes? Why and for what?

I hate iTunes. It's no news here, that iTunes is a slow, buggy, kludgy application. Plus, the way Apple locks you in to having 1 dedicated pc to sync with (I know there are some work arounds, but they too are a kludge).

Lol, almost a year it came out on June 16, sorry that's half a year lol. Anyways, there will be a new iphone 4th Generation, it will have a 5 MP camera and it will have some flashy gadgets because lets face it, apple has to try this go around :D It will come out probably Mid June to Early July just like all the others. But if it is a minor upgrade again (3G to 3GS was not ground-breaking) then apple will lose a lot of it's 3G customers that are holding out such as myself and I dont think they want to risk that.

People seem to like to make this assertion, but I've been using iTunes from the very beginning and honestly I've never experienced anything of the sort, even with an 80gig audio library stored on the network. Is it super lightweight a-la VLC? No, but it's not intended to be, and it's a hell of a lot better audio player than VLC or most others, IMO. Since the program is already open 90% of the time things like how fast it opens (not that I find even that slow) matter very little to me.

you clearly haven't tried many other audio players then. first of all, no one uses vlc for audio. secondly, itunes can't even do the most basic things a real media player should do like monitoring folders without setting up some automator crap. itunes = bloated garbage.

I'm glad it's working for you (really). But I've had it installed on several different computers and have had intermittant trouble with iTunes on all if them. Granted, they were all running Windows (XP, Vista and now Windows 7). Curently I have trouble with iTunes recognizing my iPhone and iPod. I could go on and on, but this is really getting off topic for this thread.

Earlier I stated that I had my iphone for almost a year, but that later post is right. The 3GS came out in June. But, gee, it feels longer :p

Some respond kinda idiot, so I'll answer your question Topic Starter.

The new iPhone will probably be announced on monday the 28th of June. Apple appearently has reserved the 28th., 29th., 30th. of June, 1st and 2nd of July for Apple's WWDC (WorldWide Developers Conference).

The new iPhone will likely have these features:
- 5 megapixel camera*
- 64 GB NAND-flash chip from Toshiba
- WiFi 802.11n, the newest iPod Touch also has the ability for 802.11n**
- Built-in RFID technology
- Radio app***
- Significant battery improvement***
- WiFi direct****

* Apple has ordered a DOUBLE amount of these cameras, this might indicate that the new iPhone also is going to have a front facing camera.

** Apple must still activate it through a firmware update

*** These were rumored earlier, some rumors even say that the 3Gs also will get this radio app. Note that these two rumors are less-likely to happen than the other rumors.

**** WiFi direct is a sort of Peer-to-Peer functionality, just like you can use bluetooth for. Some devices already support this, and a big amount of new devices are going to support this in 2010. Apple's plans are still unclear, but it's likely they will follow.

An iPhone 4G thread in disguise . . .

I just hope all grown-ups realize there is no way this phone will use 4G. AT&T isn't rolling out 4G until 2011, and Verizon will just be starting its rollout. Unless a 4G radio was the same price and used the same power as a 3G, then you can forget it because it won't add anything for most users.

And you can bet 4G will cost more.

I am beginning to believe that in the US, a CDMA version of the iPhone will come out for Verizon and/or Sprint. Apple can't gain much more revenue from AT&T customers since the network is getting so bogged down, and I'm sure Apple likes money. There are issues to work out like Vcast, but I'm betting everybody involved will like money too much to not work something out.
