Next iPhone to be launched no later than early May 2010 ?

The well known French magazine Challenge trough the writtings of its editor in Chief announced today in this article that, according to mobile operators sources, the next generation of the iPhone, the Fourth, will arrive no later than May 2010.

If confirmed, this will be a change compared to the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS both released end of June / early July of previous years.

This is the second rumour in a row today coming from France after the second in command for France Telecom announcing that the iTablet from Apple is a reality and that it will integrate a webcam and e able to communicate through 3G networks, see it here..

I agree it would be nice... I have already got the money saved up to purchase one at no contract pricing...im getting tired of being locked into ATT
 
I think they're going to wait til the WWDC 2010, apparently scheduled for June 28th to July 2nd, with the 4th gen iPhone launching on July 9th.

The thing is im thinking they would announce the iPhone 4.0 OS and Hardware along with the Tablet and then during WWDC focus on the iPhone OS, Tablet OS, and 10.7!
 
would launching a new phone a whole 60 days before everyone expects really irritate anyone? Sure its always nice to upgrade at launch but I cant see the world being completely up in arms about a slightly early launch.

As an aside my 3G contract is up in 2 weeks so if I'm being honest the sooner the better :D

Incorrect. If you are already an AT&T customer and are renewing a two year contract and want to upgrade to a new phone, you are eligible at 18 or 20 months. I got my 3G on July 28th, and was eligible two weeks ago on December 28th, which is actually 17 months.

that evil AT&T I renewed my 2 year contract in June. I will be up for renew legit in Nov. which is 17 months not 24 when I was with Verizon I never seemed to catch a break! btw I am 450 min unlimited data. I also say the French are wrong! ;) I might wait for the 5G instead since my renew will be in the middle of the cycle.

That's odd, when I was with VZW, I got my first upgrade at 20 months, and my second one just shy of that (had a problem with my RAZR, called them and they pushed up my upgrade a couple weeks).

This is Apple.. they could care less about who they piss off. Remember when they released the original iPhone, then within a month or two dropped the price by several hundreds of dollars?
 
That would be a surprise, in May, Really?? I was thinking of getting an iphone but I think I'll wait, I already saved up the money :D, I hope this is true btw...
 
Maybe an announcement of the new OS and new SDK to allow for devs to have apps ready for launch.

However an actual launch in May is highly unlikely IMO

I agree. Then the new iPhone will be available for purchase soon after WWDC and everyone else will be able to download 4.0 as well.
