I know it was just launched early this year, but any rumors about the next iphone?

Apple many times ups capacities 4-8 months after the initial launch of a product.

Say 32 GB goes to 64 GB.

Hate to buy a new 3 GS and tie myself to a 2 year contract, when these changes will happen in just a few weeks/months.

If you want one now, go for it! :)
You probably wont see another iphone coming out until June of next year. Apple has no reason to add more to the iPhone, seeing as there is little competition to push them to innovate. They are complacent as they are.

not with the iphone. the pattern so far is that it changes annually. the next update will be june/july next year.

She's right. I believe the update cycle has been once a year. Right?

jessica. knows, if she says I'm right, I'm right. :D

And yeah, so far the cycle has been once year, no reason why that should change now. Also, flash isn't cheap enough at this point for a 64GB iPhone.

64 GB chips too expensive now. iPhone only has one slot. I doubt, barring a decrease in price or architecture change, a 64 GB iPhone next June.

In any event, even if possible, Apple will NOT update the iPhone hardware until at least next Summer. Given the bellyaching of the 3G owners at the 3GS launch, and the fairly esablished product cycle update pattern heretofore established.

So far, the update cycle for the iPhone is once a year in June/July. Been that way since the iPhone was introduced in 2007. So it is a pretty safe bet that there won't be an update for at least 9 more months. But you never know for sure. It is possible that an update could come earlier, but in my opinion it is not probable.

They have just redesigned the inside of the touch so chips being to expensive won't stop a 64gb iPhone. Tech moves quickly so I think they will redesign both internal and external.

Internally for more storage, larger batter and faster processing. Externally for product refresh.

The iPod touch has two 32GB chips. A single 64GB chip is still too expensive. The iPhone, with all the other stuff it has (GPS, camera, radio...) doesn't have space for two chips, so it will only be 64GB when those chips are cheap enough (by that time the iPod touch will be 128GB).

iPod Touch has always had 2 slots for memory while the iPhone has only one.

2x32=64 (iPod Touch)
1x32=32 (iPhone)

If you are going to sound authoritative, do your homework. My previous post stands.

I'd say we will most likely see 64GB in 2 more years (2011). Apple will wait for the NAND flash chip makers to test well their 64GB nands before adopting them.

In any case a new iPhone is very likely to be available June/July.

Thanks to everybody!

Broke down and bought a 32GB 3GS.

Now watch them update the thing in two weeks:)

Gotta jump sometime.

Waiting for the one that projects pix and an iphone with a flashlight. Hopefully done by the time they roll out 4GS on Verizon, haha.

LOL. iPhone on Vzw will suck as much as iP on AT&T. If it comes out on Vzw it will have a bunch of their branding on it. Just like they do every phone. Otherwise it wont.

Want a flashlight, buy an app or get a battery pack that has one.

July 2008- Apple releases the new iPhone with 3G w/ new price $199,$299 (8g,16g models)
July 2009- Apple releases the new iPhone 3G S⃣ same $199,$299(16g,32g models)
July 2009- iPhone 3G dropped to just $99
