Do your guy think.

IMO: Although the current case still look cool and excellence accessible.
I think there are a new mac pro case on the edge.
 
There's always room for improvement and money to make. maybe in 3 yrs time when 8 cores/cpu will be a standard on all mac pros.

That wont happen. Users can't be relied upon for anything -Apple. Just buy what we tell you to.
 
I mean it would be awesome, yes. I agree. But they had that (kind of) with the Xserve. "Do want that in a rack or a tower?". Everywhere I look though a rack-able server is moot as departments are no longer going to buy Apple server stuff. It is over for OS X Server in the large enterprise. Can't be counted on.
 
Were that many people using OS X Server to begin with? I mean like for actual mission-critical, serious purposes?

Yes. I had about 10 going at one point covering 5 business's. We bought new ones every 3 years. A large part of one initial web host was done on 12 G4 cluster nodes. XSAN drove a few purchases as you should have one for files and one for metadata. Apples "it wasn't selling" thing was ridiculous. They came in for a meeting and said they could not offer us anything new or talk about anything forthcoming, said Xserve was not selling and we asked then why are you here? They said they wanted to be our enterprise provider. Huh?
They would have done really well had they given admins the proper tools. Like advanced notifications of changes and white papers. Simple common sense things.
 
I wish they would make water cooling as an option soon. They get pretty hot and makes a small room very warm specially when I am folding.

Regardless of the heat exchanger technology (air vs water), the same number of BTU's have to get transferred out of the chassis. All liquid cooling would do is raise the cost and lower the reliability (remember the liquid cooled G5 leaks?).
 
Every year they think there will be a new case and there is not. Bit there is always hope . . .

Seriously? you have any benchmarks? I always thought water cooling was superior to fans/air.
 
I doubt it. The MP case is really classic, and unless they are going to change functionality to the downside, i.e., remove PCI slots or hard drive or optical bays, I don't see how they slim it down. It's not a consumer device so the need to update the case is more out of functionality than aesthetics.

I would not mind it if they did introduce a slimed down version though -- perhaps for the low end to serve the hobbyist market (of which I consider myself a member). I always buy the low end but I don't need all the PCI slots, and at this point don't really need two optical bays anymore either.

Yes, water cooling can remove more heat with less noise than air coolers alone. But in the case of cooling a pair of Xeon's in a Mac Pro, khollister is correct that the amount of heat that needs to be removed is the same regardless of the cooling solution being used. Now, since the air cooling in current Mac Pro's is hardly obnoxious, there is little to be gained from moving to water cooling, unless Apple wants to start offering factory overclocked CPUs (LOL).

Having used water cooling on previous PC's I've owned, I would never go that route again. While it's great for enabling max overclocks, it can be a total pain in the ass (evaporation/filling, bleeding, leaks, servicing, etc.) to maintain and has no place in a computer designed for everyday work (IMHO).

The key is to maximize use of that hot water. The iBrewPro that combines a powerful computer with a coffee or tea maker. I first thought of an iAquariumPro but it would likely cook the fish.

Apple could make all the holes in the front of the Mac Pro case in the shape of apples but that would increase costs and slow production with the machining. Make all the holes little NACA ducts.
