If anyone is in the know about when the next update is likely.

Just noticed there is another poll on this at the bottom of the first page..

I just ordered a MBA, but if the rumors get anymore solid about an upgrade in mid Oct I may utilize my buyers remorse period over the next 2 weeks and send it back, btw, can you send it back within the 14 days even if you open and use it?

Even if it is upgraded apparently it won't increase in speed much, only in HD space and maybe battery power. I'm using MBA as secondary mobile laptop so don't really need lots of space, but extended battery life would be good. So I may end up just keeping it anyway even if there is an upgrade.

While Id like to to see the Air with a second USB and perhaps a Mini-Ethernet (bit like the Mini-DVI), I am happy as it is.

I think Jan would be a good bet with the (probable) MB and MBP updates comming soon, I would think they'd let that market flurry settle and then hit us with another update.

I think the date is Oct. 14. So, I think you might already pass your 14 days return period. If you can return within 14 days, you lose 10% and you might need to pay for the return shipping as well. I wouldn't return it if I were you. I'll let other people test it first and if the new 1 is (about) the same as the old 1, you don't even need to get a newer 1.

I'm hoping for October because I am just about ready to buy a new laptop. Since I am just starting to look waiting until then won't be a problem. I'll stick it out until then and if nothing is announced I'll get the current model. I'll probably even get a refurb because I've had great experience buying Apple refurbs in the past.

In a coffee shop.
My guess would be January, around the time of the anniversary of the original (and genuinely earth shattering) MBA. October would be nice, but I'm not sure we'll see it.
Cheers

A year is an incredibly long life for a laptop iteration these days. The 120GB drives are now a reality, so Apple will surely refresh the Air before MWSF with those at least. If it doesn't happen, it's because they have something really drastic planned, like overhauling the design or phasing out the Air in lieu of a better idea.
