Does anyone know the name/specs of future ATI/Nvidia mobile graphics sets? For instance, does anyone know what ATI/AMD plans to replace the X1600XT with as the middle performance graphics processor in 2007?

I plan on buying a Macbookpro sometime before the fall (using a powerbook now and want to upgrade for the next OS but I figured I will wait until LED backlit screen, Santa Rosa, and new GPU which will probably come with it.)

Sorry if this has been asked before, I really did search google, multiple other websites, and spent the last 45 minutes searching the forums.

A little more searching and it may be this card-
ATI x2600
Anyone have any info on it?

Hmm, thanks.
Seems like some great news

GDDR4 memory! That will be an improvment, along with unified shader (just like on the R600 badboy in the future macpro, yes!)

I'm hoping by the time I buy this summer they will have the backlit LED (better battery life) new batteries (IE no more exploading ones) magnetic lid (like macbook) maybe new case or macbook type keyboard with backlight, Santa Rosa with 2.66 mghz processor, 3 gigs of DDR2 800 ram, and this new little slick graphics card to top it all off (dont forget NAND flash!)

Possible

new batteries (IE no more exploading ones)
The new (beginning with the Intel) lithium-polymer ones don't.

magnetic lid (like macbook) maybe new case or macbook type keyboard with backlight,
Everyone seems to love that magnetic lid. I do too.

Santa Rosa with 2.66 mghz processor
http://guides.macrumors.com/Merom I've posted this too many times...

3 gigs of DDR2 800 ram
Possible to have 3 GB stock on the high end.

(dont forget NAND flash!)
Robson more then likely instead of on the drive itself.

ah, but not in DDR2 800. I'd rather have 4, not 3 (for dual channel).
Intel Flex Memory does allow you to get around some of that. You don't get full bandwidth but you will get more then single channel With the 965 chipset you could have 4 GB of RAM addressable and beyond.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew the TDP of the Mobility X1600?

I can't remember exactly where I saw it, but I seem to remember I saw somewhere that the X2600 top model will pull 60-90W...

This seems somewhat high, but I'm sure Apple wouldn't rev the MBP in June or July without putting at least a X2300 in, assuming they arrive on schedule in May. I'm sure one will completely own the X1600 in there atm.

Of course, it would be nice to be able to take your laptop to a LAN party and play Crysis, CNC3, Supreme Commander, etc... Very impressive.

So any idea on what the TDP of the Mobility X1600 is, should give us a good indication of what GPU Apple will stick in the S.R. MBP

I think Apple could easily make this an excellent upgrade, with flash booting, super high res LED backlit LCD  :D screens, a super fast, brand new DX10 GPU, faster RAM, and a slight CPU bump.
