I'm thinking about buying an Apple TV. I was wondering if a new version is coming out anytime soon. I would hate to buy it today and a new model come out in a couple of months.

I appreciate any feed beck.

I tried MRoogle and didn't find any information.

At this point, it's impossible to say for sure what Apple will do with the ATV next. Some, myself included, think there is the possibility of seeing an App store for the existing ATV at some point in the near future (allowing access to additional content and games). If that is the case, I would imagine that we'll see the ATV joining the yearly cycle that all the other iOS devices seem to be on. In which case, we'll see a new ATV in September.

Other point out that it took years to see an ATV2, and that is a completely different box (from the hardware to the software a complete overhaul). If this proves to be the norm for the Apple TV, we won't be seeing one for quite some time.

I think Apple has a more specific vision for the ATV than it did before and that vision will benefit from yearly updates.

No one can really say 100% when the next version is coming, but if I had to guess I would say as an iOS device it may go into a yearly cycle for updates like the iPhone, iPods, and iPad. Maybe this fall they'll update the Apple TV with newer internals that the other iOS devices receive this year.

If you're interested in the apple TV I say just grab it now. For $100 you can't really go wrong.

Thanks folks... This answers my question. Guess I'll go buy one now.
