Where is the pricing coming from? And why doesn't the stats for the Nexus 4 say LTE?

I'd be interested in the Nexus 4 LTE if it was priced at $229 and $279.

I actually like the overall design of the N4 more than the N5 although it has the crack prone back and a little taller with a smaller screen. But for $70 more and a far better SoC and bigger screen, N5 is more reasonable.

I've actually lost interest in the Nexus devices just because there is no expandable memory slot and it caps at 32 GB. I dont generally like Samsung, but you can get an S4 for a reasonable price and with contract. Why pay $300+ for phones without LTE data plan? And since I've been downloading HD movies at 720p with sizes around 1.25 GB, getting a 64 GB microSD for like $60 is the way to go now if I want to consume content. A 32 GB phone is starting to look anemic to me now. You might be lucky to fit 5-10 HD movies. With 64 GB + some internal storage that can be used to store apps, I can fit between 25-40 HD movies if I wanted to. Enough to fit most of my fav movies ever.

The spec comparison comes from here and is based on the now doubtful leaked service manual. The article dates back three weeks ago. The OP is not sharing news, he's speculating. He should have worded it better.

But maybe Google is doing something like Apple apparently does? I have no idea if it's true but a poster who seemed knowledgable here ranted about how Apple doesn't switch to the lowest network (i.e. EDGE) for phone calls while other phones do. They claimed the difference in call quality wasn't noticeable enough for the drop in battery life. I believe that calls on EDGE and what not provide double the call time on the iPhone. However, this person could have been misinformed or just plain wrong as I've never heard of this from anywhere else.

Maybe Google is prioritizing call quality over talk time?

If this turns out to be true, I wonder if it'll be a redesigned Nexus 4 without the glass. Didn't the FCC filing show dimensions for a Nexus device that was similarly sized to the current Nexus 4 but that had the back design of the new Nexus 5?

Might explain that wide range of leaks. Could be possible. There was a leak separate from this that did say an LTE-equipped Nexus 4 would sell along the Nexus 5.

Hope the prices are even lower than that, though, for the N4...

If this turns out to be true, more options for all. Would be a smart move from Google.

I have noticed my data does drop to EDGE on my S4 but I didn't know why or that it had an effect on call quality.

I had read that the current crop of Nexus 4's would have the radio's and modems activated, so current users could use LTE. Currently, we have to mod the phone ourselves to get LTE working, but it does work. Would just be a whole lot easier if Google did the mods for us via an OTA update.

No way that is going to happen. Google would have to get it re-certified by the FCC. Plus, the main reason why it won't happen is the Nexus 4 only has support for ONE LTE band. Enabling that would just result in a poor user experience.
