Nexus 7 2013, issues?

A few issues that some people have reported:
Touch screen irresponsive at times
Wireless charging doesn't work
The touch screen issue was supposed to be fixed by an update.
There might be others but these are the main ones I've read about.
Personally, my first 2013 N7 didn't wirelessly charge, exchanged for another. The second one had a power button with barely any spring to it so it was hard to press. Exchanged again and the third one is perfect. No issues at all.
This tab is amazing, especially for that price. Love the build quality and the way it feels in the hand. My room mate with an iPad 3 used my N7 for the first time today and he said "this thing feels nice and solid".
I barely even use my 5S anymore, except call/texts obviously. Highly recommend it.

What issues are you speaking of? There were some issues with the touchscreen but this should be resolved, no issues with mine.
If you read threads on forums your seeing only the people that really have issues. Most satisfied people simply don't post. Go ahead and get it. Mines from launch (bought at Best Buy) and I have no problems.
Again these were supposedly fixed all through an update.
My N7s never had touch screen or gps issues. And mine is running superb.
Those issues should all be resolved by an update Google pushed out shortly after they were discovered.

I purchased one on Thursday from a high volume seller for just under 2 bills (have not received it yet and this is my first Android device). I wanted to get the iPad Mini Retina but all I am going to use this thing for is as an e-reader (books and sheet music) and some videos so I decided to try out the Nexus 7 for half the price. I have always thought Android seemed like a nice OS at a feature level but felt super clunky in the UI layer compared to iOS. It wasn't until Project Butter / Android 4.x that I finally thought - ok ...it finally feels elegant and comparable.

My biggest issue has been GPS not updating my location. I live in Las Vegas and took a trip to Philadelphia over a month ago and until last week my Nex7 GPS still thought I was in Philly!?!?
The touch screen issues are kind of random. I've returned one unit due to this issue. My other unit doesn't have the ghost taps, but at times it feels like I'm fighting with my tablet..I have to tap twice sometimes, have to tap the magnified section because the area was too small to determine which location I tapped or the tap is laggy. But I've heard this is just an Android issue, not Nex7.

What do you mean defective screens? My battery life is excellent, I charge my N7 every 3 days (sometimes every 2 if I game a lot) and I use it quite a lot. You probably didnt change the settings and had GPS running, WiFi running at all times, etc. If you want excellent battery life you have to play with the settings a bit. Also turning of the pointless setting of automatically detecting the time and just set the time manually. The Nexus 7 got good battery reviews across many tech sites so..
Either way, the Nexus 7 is a top seller in the Android tablet market. I don't think Google is worried at all.

I don't think I will ever buy another Asus product. They had the same issue in the original Nexus 7. Surprised I have it on the 2013.

Yeah, Asus' quality control isn't the best. The device is solid but because the QC is bad, some units probably tend to creak because of the materials used. Just like the plethora of Android cell phones that have plastic materials and creak when you "twist" or bend the unit. Thankfully, my N7 is completely perfect, no creaks, no screen lifting, no defects whatsoever, but I probably wouldnt be happy if I got one that had problems. Either way, you're paying such a low price for a pretty peppy tablet, so I guess you can't expect 100% perfection. And every mass produced product has duds, or units that have defects, it's just the way the cookie crumbles. I went through 2 N7's before finding a perfect one. I told myself I'd keep exchanging it until it was perfect, and the third one I got was. There are obviously just bad batches.
Mine hasn't rebooted, reset or froze up at all, maybe it's an app you have installed or maybe try reflashing the stock ROM. Maybe Google will go to LG for the next N7 and QC will improve. However, Google probably saves money going with Asus.
