Does anyone know if the 3 New Hampshire Apple Stores are closed? Its quite odd, every product lists as "Currently Unavailable" for pickup and there are no available time slots to schedule a 1-on-1 session with a store associate. I do not see any stories online or on the Apple website that indicate the 3 stores are closed.

Thanks

All 3 stores show as open until 6pm today.
Chances are that they’re just all booked.

But you are unable to buy online to pick up at the store, but you can at every other store nation-wide? That doesn't make sense.

I tried calling, and you get re-routed to some call center, and you can't get a straight answer other than someone reading the open and close times.

New Hampshire has no state sales tax and the Apple Stores there are a very popular place to buy from. Very likely since they recently opened, they are sold out and all appointments are booked solid.

Yeah that’s a good point. Add in tax refunds + stimulus checks. I just didn’t think they’d be sold out across the board like that though.

I was somewhat wondering if because I’m in MA, somewhat close to the border, the site was blocking me from buying online to pick up in sales tax-free NH, but they might just be that booked up and sold out.

Apple should increase its capacity if that’s the case - they’re missing out/delaying a lot of MA to NH sales.

I am certain that Apple is not concerned with the sales tax laws anywhere. If taxes are required to be collected, Apple will collect them and remit them to the taxing authority. Regardless of sales tax, Apple makes the same amount for each device in any of their US store... just because the item is sold in a no-sales-tax-state doesn't mean that their profit is any more or any less than in a sales-tax-state. The only place sales tax v no sales tax matters is to the consumer...

Legally, if you, as a non-resident of a state that does not collect sales tax, who purchases items in said no-sales-tax state, you are required by state law to pay that sales tax to your home state. We could wander off further into the weeds on taxes and tax law, but we won't.

The bottom line is that Apple has no skin in the game either way. They cannot, however, be complicit in any steps to avoid collection and payment of legally enacted taxes.
