I'm looking for a nice set of speakers to match my mom's new imac. She's no audiophile so I'm not too concerned about the sound quality (although I don't want worthless €15 speakers).

Here's what I've found so far:

JBL DUET http://www.jbl.com/home/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=DUETWHT&cat=HMM&ser=HMM

They sell for about €60 here in Holland. The white ones will suit the imac quite well i'd say.

I'm really not looking to spend much more than that price. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I picked up a set of Altec Lansing FX-6021 speakers to go with my powerbook. The sound quality is awesome, but they are somewhat pricey.

Don't get the JBL duets. They sound horrible! Definitely go for the creatures if you don't want to spend too much money. I have a pair of the duets sitting in my closet. They are good for listening to music in the office where the volume needs to be practically silent anyways.

I've got a set of Energy C5's conneted through a Yamaha RX-1300 Reciever, using Coaxial,

great sound but obviously a little large for your application.

You can get some execellent headphone for <200Euros, maybe look into that.

I'm going to have to support that anti-Duet crowd. They don't sound much better than the $20 ones from the drug store and I think they've all had a sort of hollow or thing timbre to them. My local Mac reseller (no Apple Store here :() had them connected to test systems for a while, but none of them are on display any more.

The creature speakers really are very nice, or a basic Altec Lansing set will sound nice. I have an older set of ACS-33 speakers that have a nice, rich sound to them, and the quality of what you can get today is at least equally good for US$60-75 if you shop around.
