My applications dont seem to like saving files to the desktop. Ie if i ave a word document to the desktop it wont appear, and the only way I can get it to appear is if i type in the documents name in spotlight, then click reveal in finder?

running 10.4.10, and have downloaded latest updates.

Anyone any ideas?

Do this with one of the files, then in Spotlight, hold down the Command key and click on the file. Now you will see where it is. Is this still the Desktop?

yes. I have to click reveal in finder to make the icon appear though.

similar thing happens when emptying the recycle bin. it doesnt show that it has ben emptied. I have to go into the recycle bin and click on the icon which i thought was deleted, then the icon will disappear.

A restart seems to have solved the problem for now, would love to know what causes it!!!
