I'm new to this f.lux-stuff, but i think i like it.

What is a good setting on the Cooler-Warmer-axis? :)

Please share a SS of settings :) And help me find a good mode :)
 
On my iPhone 6s the "Sunrise to Sunset" option is missing from the schedule menu.

Anyone else experience this or know how to fix it?
 
Those not seeing the sunset to sunrise: do you have location turned on for weather? Probably uses that to determine sunrise timing

There really aren't some best settings or anything like that as this is something quite subjective and different settings would work differently for different people.
 
I've never used that Flux app on the Mac so this is all new territory for me! I'm not a dev or in the public testing programme so will be trying it all out when it launches!

You will probably love it and wonder how you could live without it :) Try installing f.lux on your Mac or PC and see if you like it.
 
Not sure how I feel about it. I'm usually the 'triple click home button to invert colors' kind of guy. I would probably prefer dark mode, this yellow make me sleepy ;)

Dark mode would be wonderful. But this is such a step in the right direction for us insomniacs that can't stay off our devices late at night.

That's the point. :) The blue–white light at dusk is unnatural and actually causes your brain to produce less melatonin, which can disturb your sleep rhythm and make you edgy. The yellow–red tint reflects sun light at dusk better and kickstarts the brain’s normal response to impending darkness. F.lux does this really well by really slowly adjusting the colour temperature so that you do not notice it changing, while becoming more wary of bedtime after a while.

It depends on how this works. On my Mac, I use a very warm colour temperature with F.lux, because then the effect will be better. However, if the transition is very short/steep then it might throw you off. I would start with the warmest colour temperature and adjust more to the middle if necessary.

all the way on cooler, its still warmer than when off which is just right, testing now with it set from 1am to 1am so its on constantly hopefully

If you want it on full time. Why not just turn the schedule to Off and then toggle Blue Light Reduction to On? No need to schedule it 1am -1am.
 
I have mine turned on all the time at 75% (0% being far left, 100% being far right). I just prefer the warmer colors over the white.

I'm hoping Apple tweaks this later on to look at your local time and adjust the warmth according to the time of day rather than this static setting that just has a scheduled on/off switch.

i.e. as it gets later in the day the warmer the colors get. Like an auto-brightness feature that only adjusts color warmth depending on time of day where you are located rather than using a ambient light sensor.
 
I am so far going with default center setting with schedule sunset to sunrise. I don't prefer a warm/yellow tone but I do see the possible benefit to using this in the evening so for now, just default.

This is the thing. The transition is too quick. I think it's just 1 minute as soon as it hits the sunset time for your area. Saw it earlier, and I was like "Ohh. Uhm. Okay."

After darkness falls, light up the room/house like you normally do, sit where you normally do, then open the settings page on your phone, compare the level of white/yellow-ness of your white/beige walls to the phone, adjust the slider to match them.
Be careful of the brightness difference, focus on the yellow-ness.

well its set from sunset to sunrise and i obviously dont sleep at 5pm
Takes some time for the brain to secrete whatever (ok melatonin), and takes time to build up. The point is to not shine blue lights to your retina continuously for hours before trying to sleep. It's a working solution.
I agree it is better (just looks better and makes us feel better, not technically) if it changes gradually like F.lux does. But I wonder if it's patented.
