Looking foward to this
Is this going to be a pre installed app?
I hipe this is not a battery drianer if its on all the time even if the app is closed

No, the sensor is built in the iPhone 5s, hence the movement chip. Didn't you watch the event launch video? It's very well covered on there, check it out!

Cheers - will have a look. I am keen to see how it recognises hand movements without feet movement (unless it's strapped to your arm)

M7 Chip... Now What?

So, I have the 5s as of Friday and am loving it. I was wondering though, are there any uses of the M7 chip now, or do we need to wait for developers to create apps for it? I just want to make sure I am using all of the features of the phone that I was excited about, and the describes M7 feature was one of them.

Has anyone found any apps or ways of testing/using the M7 chip? I am interested in what Nike has coming out, but heard that will be later this year.

Thanks.

The app Argus actually implemented the M7 already. Check it out

Argus, Strava Run, Pedometer++ all can access the M7. If you use Argus, you need to enable M7 support in the settings (and then you lose the badge updates of your steps).

Nike scheduled an Oct. 15 press event for what will probably be the next gen FuelBand. Be interesting to see of there is any integration with the M7.

I am confidence there will be disappointment with m7 data in iphone 5S.

A phone is not 24/7 strapped to your body. And parts of body where it attached to determines the outcome. Eg: leave your phone on desk while you go to toilet, swing your hands without actually moving, pedaling on static cycle.

still nothing on this nike move app?
one of the big reasons why i wanted the iPhone 5s

The Move app will be available for download November 6th at the same time the Updated Nike Fuelband app supporting the new Fuelband SE is released

Show me a single device that can track your movement if you leave it sitting on a desk. Good grief.

Thank you!!

Now it looks like I need the fuelband to get the full experience

You misunderstand my statement. Phone is not designed to attached to body most of the time. Thus, it's not good sample to use M7 with fitness app in iphone that promise to track your whole day activity.

I'm 80% sure now they could use it in iwatch. Think about it:
1. Low power processor that can store data.
2. Apple hiring nike executive.
3. Our wrist is the most ideal location to track movement. It moves together with your hand and like a watch, it can be attached to body most of the time
