Nikon factory-refurbished products...

I don't but I have bought most of my lenses second hand. Even if they needed repair it wouldn't come to what I'd have had to pay for new.
How much is the saving? If it's enough to cover a repair cost, even without a warranty you should be good.
However many people make the switch from DX to FF, so there should be plenty of bargains to be had second hand.
What lens (or lenses) are you looking at?
I got my wife a refurbished D5300 a couple of years ago. I was expecting a camera that felt pre-owned, but if you put it side by side with a brand new one and let me handle them, I wouldn't be able to tell you which one was the refurbished one and which one was new.

Actually, I don't own a Nikon body right now.
I'm currently using a SONY A58 (APS-c, only my second digital camera).
It's a decent camera, but I had my eye on the upcoming Nikon D7500. Haven't owned a Nikon since the early 1970's (Nikon FTn). Even though I sense we're nearing the end of "the SLR era", I'd like to own a Nikon again.
I was thinking of the 18-300 as a general-purpose lens to start with.
One of my main uses would be for small-venue outdoor concert photos (bluegrass festivals). The extra "reach" makes it easy to get good closeups while still remaining "back in the audience" (and not "cringing on the performers' space).

If you already know how to handle an SLR camera, I doubt you'd regret owning a new Nikon DSLR. If you've owned a Nikon before, the controls will feel instantly familiar and I think that even though mirrorless is the wave of the future, I think there's always going to be some advantages (and disadvantages) to the DSLR. Your battery power on a DSLR will last a lot longer and if you're doing flash photography, you lose one of the main advantages of mirrorless... getting to see the exposure in real time.
A few years ago, I bought a refurb Nikon AW110 from a local camera shop, they're an authorized dealer.
Physically, it looked very well used, generously a 7/10 cosmetically, and the tripod mount area was severely scratched by one of those round mounts.
I bought it shortly before a cruise, it was the only one in stock, and the AW120 had just come out, so it was about $100 more for a new camera on a fairly cheap point and shoot, and my primary shooters are SLRs, this was just a toy to play with in the ocean and swimming pool, so I kept it anyway.
Within the first month, the battery charger failed, and it was outside the limited return period for a refurb. The new charger was an extra $40.
