Ninite - Possible Savior for Fresh Windows Installs!

Wow! This site, http://www.ninite.com, is a completely free service that downloads your selected programs and installs them without the crapware (browser toolbars and the such), automatically! You don't even have to install Ninite - it's all done online, and once you've selected your programs, you click a button, and an .exe file is downloaded. When you run it, it automatically downloads and installs your selected programs with all default settings and "no" to crapware.

I've not tried this yet, so I can't vouch for it, but it sounds amazing! If it works and if they keep it up to date, I think I will use this site for years to come. Makes Windows reinstalls so much less of a headache!

That website is alright, but it's limited by its small list of programs. Let's say you're an architect and have to reinstall a bunch of different cad software. I mean, for the average windows user, it'll be fine.

Are you kidding me? Letting a web site do ANYTHING on your computer that is not a KNOWN legit source is RISKY. This quote is all I needed to know "an .exe file is downloaded". The only thing missing is big flashing red lights, audio alerts and the words sucker. I do not trust any sites like that. If you follow any of the tech web sites, Toms Hardware, Ars Technica, WinSuperSite, etc. they have or soon will have multiple solutions. None of this other junk is needed or has any use at all and the security risk alone is down right dumb. Listen to Security Now with Steve Gibson and you would NEVER even come close to touching trash like that.

The app went through both AVG and Microsoft Security Essentials with flying colors when I tried it on my Parallels install. Seems great, gonna keep the 156KB .exe installer on my dropbox for when I need it

And the app list will probably increase over time. I have a hard time seeing their business plan, though...
