Nikon once focused on professional cameras and moved into the consumer market. Today, I think Canon is far more profitable, yet Nikon does very well and people swear by their products. In a very broad sense, you can see a parallel to Canon and Nintendo. and Nikon and Apple.
I'm also wondering if this won't be more toxic than Canon v. Nikon. I'm guessing that Apple's subliminal marketing pitch will be anything that has Nintendo's name on it will be cast as coming from a little Italian man in a red jumpsuit. I can't wait for the I'm a Mac, I'm a Nintendo ads.
