Ok beyond the obvious duhs of overkill for this machine (or technically not overkill since it's probably not a great miner) I was wondering what hashrates have people seen with their machines if they've tried.

I have a d700 and I'm seeing around 550mhash with Diablo miner. I feel like I might be doing something wrong (I think it should be a little higher, around 1Gh/s) so I was curious if anyone has tried and their average output speeds.

My idea was to put the machine to work while on screensaver/atnight since I'm in a situation where electricity is essentially a nonissue.

----------

FWIW I removed the "-v 2" option as suggested in the Github project page and now I'm getting around 950mh/s.

Still curious if others are getting better with different miners/configs though.

Thanks!

Seems I'm around the right hash now that I've fixed things. Also since 1 gpu is only used for the display I've actually got it to work off only the other gpu so it's not impacting me while I use the machine. Naturally with only one enabled I'm getting roughly half that hashrate now. Pretty sweet for doing no real work.

So how many pennies worth of Bitcoin are you generating per night? How much is the cost of electricity overnight?

mining bitcoins on computers and videocard currently is abosultely useless, it won't even pay electricity bills, mine litecoin or any other scrypt based coin (loike dogecoin) and xchange them at cryptsy.

Have you done the math on this? Because you're losing money. http://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

You can buy USB sticks on eBay for $100-$200 that get 2.5x the hash rate of the nMP. Even with those you would end recouping maybe 5% of the investment.

I mean I'm not losing any money because I'm not paying for electricity/doing this for lawls. Was more of an academic-y pursuit/question!
