nMP Case cost?

One really cool thing is that since all the cases are the same and it lifts right up, it will be an easy thing to replace. Surely these things will be prone to dings and scratches from being in the desktop and will be nice to be able to replace. Just wonder what the cost will be?

I'm sure apple parts will have them at some point, and at a completely reasonable price.

It won't be long before someone has their case powder-coated, polished, anodized or painted. Since it's just a chunk of aluminum, it's a pretty straightforward project.

Agreed. Even more fun, I'd love to see a glass enclosure. Requirements are really just a slide switch to close and a small magnet (to indicate cover is on). This is easy. I'd pay $99 for it.

Since the current case is cool to the touch while it's running, I'm guessing it's not being used as a heat sync, so a glass cover should be a real possibility.

The Mac Pro is not "hot" but it is also not cool. When mine (6-core stock config) has been running a while, not even doing anything all that intensive, it gets noticeably warm, from the top to about halfway down to the bottom on the outside. So there is really no question that the case is part of the cooling system. Doesn't mean Glass isn't possible, but might not be a good idea too.

I doubt it would be actual glass, just clear plastic.
