Noticed that. Ain't no way I'm ordering a pro computer with 256GB internal storage. That's just nuts.
Of course, I'm not getting one for some time anyway, it's just fun to imagine.

Which is completely normal - Apple has a burst of initial sales for almost every new product, which eventually drops to a steady state. You wouldn't want Apple to overbuild manufacturing capacity for the intro, only to shutter production lines after the early peak is met.

I have the 256. I can't imagine keeping all your data on an internal drive on a "pro computer"!
To each his own. I would much rather spend those dollars on a TB array.
It's not the data, my system and software fill over 200GB right now. That's not leaving much room for additional software / system updates in a computer I plan on keeping for 5-6 years.
It depends what software you have. I am still installing software and I'm almost at 200GB now and still have quite a bit to go. Will definitely be over 256 before I'm done and that's without any data on the SSD.
The nMP has been in my EPP store since the beginning.

Just checked for the hell of it and the delivery for the standard configuration is at 3-5 business days. I've had 3 whiskeys (Jameson, of course) so far this evening, so I could be wrong, but that sounds faster than 1-2 weeks.
That's some serious software loads. I have a crazy amount of software on my machine and Still use about half of the 256G. I wonder how much of those software loads are actually media libraries that could go elsewhere.
My thought was to get "just enough" internal for now, as it will be upgradable later. $800 goes a long way towards a Pegasus or similar array. I've have an R6 for a few years and love it. I keep little on the main machine and absolutely no data other than scratch stuff.
I'm also seeing 3-5 business days for the stock models here in the UK, but it still jumps to 2-3 weeks if you make any change at all to the configuration.
It seems rather odd that Apple needs 5-15 business days just to take the top of a 12Gb machine and pop another DIMM in there to make it 16!

Just checked and it appears that BTO options change the delivery from 3-5 business days to 1-2 weeks. This is an improvement from the previous BTO delivery time of 2-3 weeks.

Bought my 6 core, 32gb(after marketed it to 64), 1tb, dual 700 and got it next day aired from B&H. Cost the same as on the apple site...just didn't have to wait for it. No tax either. It's the only way to go if you ask me. They also sell the aftermarket memory kits from Corsair as well.
