nMP gaming heat in Win vs OSX

Anyone else experiencing this? First time I'm playing games on a PC in 15 year, so this might be perfectly normal?

Playing BF4 in Windows (HD resolution, Ultra) brings the fan to max and nMP gets scary hot. (Tried without Crossfire... slightly cooler)
Tomb Raider in OSX (4K resolution, Ultra) quiet as a mouse, lukewarm.
Skyrim in HD resolution through VmWare Fusion, lukewarm and silent.

Install some heat monitoring software to see what kind of heat its generating, i certainly would worry if my fans didn't spin up when I'm playing a demanding game like bf4.

I'm pretty sure this is being caused by Crossfire on the Windows side. In OS X, one GPU gets hot, which the thermal core can easily manage. On Windows, two GPU's get hot, which requires the fan to kick in.

Yes, it really kicks in full blast when playing. This is normal, and is what I expected.

Additionally the AMD Windows drivers optimize performance much more tightly, including ramping the clocks and other things. So you're getting much higher performance over there, and more heat. OS X presently (perhaps never) will get the last few ounces of performance like the Windows version does.

Ok so that extreme heat was because of my screen I think. Even though I had set resolution to hd in the game, the screen was still doing 4k. Changed it in Win settings and then it was much cooler.
I did get a Display driver amd has stopped responding error after a while though.. Anyone else had that? Bad drivers or faulty card?
