When do you think Haswell will be hitting the new Mac Pros? I've heard that the Xeon E3 v3 is already Haswell and was released at the end of 2013 but i really dunno why Apple hasn't adopted this chipsets on the NMPs!
Apple will be using the E5 v3 update for its next Mac Pro version. The E3 are iMac spec.

Apple does not use Xeon e3 in the Mac Pro. The Xeon Haswell chips that are required will only be here around the end of this year, with no confirmed date.

The latest Xeon E5 is Ivy Bridge, so Apple is up to date. The Haswell version of the nMP Xeon E5 is scheduled for release 2H2014. Intel typically releases the Xeon version of this chip about a year after the mainstream processors.
It's likely Apple will update the nMP this fall or early next year with Haswell Xeon.

i. Intel introduced the Xeon E3 v3 CPU back in June 2013 ... not the end of 2013.

ii. Xeon E3 are limited to just 4 cores. No 6 , 8 , 12 core models for Mac Pro if exclusively moved to Xeon E3. Basically would be limited to about exactly the same performance range as the iMac. That isn't going to help with product differentiation. Apple has a product in the iMac class of performance.
iii. Xeon E3 are limited to just x16 PCIe lanes. The E5 has 40. x16 is about enough for one GPU card , not two. Have also blown away the ability to host 3 Thunderbolt controllers ( like MBP and iMac would be limited to just two TB ports. )
Could make something that was smaller still.... to what purpose? The Mac Pro is smaller than before. Shrinking even smaller doesn't really help much.
If indirectly grumbling about "cheaper" then Apple already has cheaper Mac products. There is a now a larger "hole" between iMac and Mac Pro in the price range but the E3 is harder to fill that range than something E5 would be. And evidently Apple appears to think the most Mac Pro buyers are more price insensitive than the other way around.
