Hello all,
I'm planning to buy a new Mac Pro and I would like to connect it to four elderly DVI Dell monitors.

I read on the Apple customer support forums that I can use up to two DVI to miniDisplayPort passive adapters.

I would like to ask if any of you has connected more than two DVI monitors through active adapters, like this.

I'd rather not use VGA if possible.

Thank you.

But that adapter is different than the dual link dvi that apple sells because it only supports 1920 x 1200. Not sure if you need any more resolution than that (not knowing the specs of your monitor). The dual link supports 2560 x 1600

You are right, I forgot to specify my monitors' resolutions, sorry...
It is indeed 1920x1200 so I shouldn't need dual link DVi.

Thank you :)

Yes, from Apple's own page

Note: AMD FirePro GPUs in Mac Pro support a maximum of two passive DVI adapters such as the Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter. Active adapters such as the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter can be used to support more than two DVI displays.
