You refer to the app? You checked with Safari? Which iPadOS version?
Your iPad is too old.
Yes but battery is still fine and I just do basic stuff with it.
if you want 4k video in YouTube you need too upgrade your iPad
Is there any guide on what models support higher than 1080p youtube in app?
You need A12 or better to support more than 1080p, even the iPad pro 2017 cannot do that...
PS Safari does not go above 1080p on any iPad, because Google does not allow it...
With an iPad that has a processor that supports it apparently.but you can do the 4k in the youtube on your ipad

Google wants you to use their app, where you cannot block ads, they not only limit the resolution, but make youtube much more resource intensive on safari, to the point that anything below A10X stutters and lags when using youtube in Safari, including the still otherwise snappy first gen pro....re: Safari & 1080p - yeah, that sucks. The Amazon Prime app will only display 720p but you can go to 1080p on the Prime website via Safari ... but no higher.

By the way this is true on Android too (but on Android you have other ways to block adds without using a browser...)
because all browsers on iPad are basically just a modified version of Safari...Yeah, but the same restriction on Prime applies to Chrome, too.
For youtube app in andriod, there is app to auto close app but still need to wait 5 seconds until youtube app skip ad button appears.Google wants you to use their app, where you cannot block ads, they not only limit the resolution, but make youtube much more resource intensive on safari, to the point that anything below A10X stutters and lags when using youtube in Safari, including the still otherwise snappy first gen pro....
