Almost immediately after upgrading to 15.1 my son discovered that we can no longer switch between LTE and 4G. Settings>Cellular>Cellular Data Options>Voice & Data. Then you have the option of LTE or 4G. On 15.1 this is gone. Did this move? I need the ability to do this. Anybody know. Googled for a while to no avail.

I used this frequently as well, this is not a good scenario for me if it doesn’t return!

I can confirm, here are the options for Verizon. It’s carrier specific

It is carrier specific. I live in Belgium and use LTE when at home, however, when I roam in any other EU country my phone switches to 4G with LTE no longer an option. I always thought 4G and LTE provided more or less the same speeds, so why would you need to switch?

Weird, the option to turn off LTE also vanished for me, but additionally I lost the "Low Data Mode" switch. So I can no longer turn on low data mode for my AT&T cellular connection.

I have plenty of data, so I don't usually use it, but it was nice to have it there. I wonder why they got rid of it. I understand getting rid of the 4G options since they're phasing it out in a few months.

EDIT: Never mind, I found it! For some reason for me it's under Cellular Plans instead. I'm guessing it's becuase I have a dual SIM capable phone (iPhone 11PM)

The main reason for switching is for situations where there is a large amount of people on the same tower (traffic, conventions, sports gatherings) Most people's phone will lock onto the LTE and if I switch to the "lower speed" option I would be able to surf again. I use it every year at Dragon Con, and even last weekend in Chicago. Pretty handy. I honestly may be switching to Verizon anyway, so it could be a moot point.

It's moot anyway because "4G" (really 3G) is going away early next year. It makes sense to get rid of the option when it will soon result in "No Service".

Same thing with ATT Prepaid. The thing with ATT Prepaid was that Data never worked in 4G more only in LTE, so I am actually happy that this is gone in our case.
