I'm trying to order a dual core 2.3 from the retail stores in my area, but none of them have the Airport+Bluetooth cards, and they don't know when they'll get them in. Has anyone else run into this?! I can't order from the online store or the 1-800 number because I've got a gift card that is only good at a retail store.

You could place a BTO order through the Apple Store, which you could then add the BT & APE and the PM would be shipped to your house or you can pick it up at the store.

tried that

I tried to put in an order like that, but they said that they didn't do orders like that. I could either take a machine now and bring it back in when they get the cards in stock (and pay an additional $30 instillation fee), or just call every couple days to check and see if they had them in stock.

Did you ask them if they could do a custom build order for you? The Apple Store here in Cinci will let you order a custom Mac and you have to option to pick it up at the store or they could ship it to your house.

yeah

That's what I asked them. When they said that they didn't do orders like that, I was beyond confused. The guy said that since they didn't have the Card and didn't know when it would come in, they couldn't take my order.

i asked in an apple store in boston if i could order a BTO and pick it up in the store. they said no. you have to order online and get it shipped home and it has nothing to do with the apple store.

another apple store said they don't have in store pick up. and on top of that they don't have dual cores before end of november.

seems the demand for those dual cores is huge. otherwise i can't understand why they are not readily available.

It's funny that here in Atlanta, I can go and get pretty much any machine, but it's a $99 card that's stopping me from getting the machine that I want. Awfully nice of Apple to make the new cards so they can't be purchased separately and user installed.
