Hoping for some help.

Previously on Windows we'd get a popup message saying a file was in use by another user and had the options to view read only, notify when available or cancel.

Two out of five of use have switched to Macs but when we open files that are in use, we don't get the message. We only find out when we go to save changes and it tells us it's a read only version.

Is there a way of turning these notifications on? It's mainly Excel spreadsheets we use. Both Macs are on OS X 10.8.4.

Help appreciated!

Thanks in advance

There is no notification popup but the title bar will state [read-only] in brackets after the file name.
