Hello! I know this has been talked about before....just cant find the answer.... I have hooked up my mac mini to my tv via an HDMI line but there is zero sound except for what is coming from the mini itself. Its a long run so I used Cat5 wires and HDMI extenders.... I was told this should not be an issue.... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated... my girlfriend is going to kill me. Thanks:)

assuming that you're on Mac Mini 2010, have you tried bypassing the Cat5 cable and connect the Mac Mini directly to your TV via HDMI cable alone?

Defend yourself..

What kind of mini is it?

A girl has to have her Dexter!

Thanks for the replies.... For some reason the sound file in system preferences was not seeing the Sony Bravia.... After a few restarts bingo....Let there be sound!
Nite all!

I had the same problem last week when I set up my Mac Mini for the first time. Resolved by going to Sound in the Setup function, and selecting the TV output instead of the Internal Speaker output.
