No Backlight, Full Fan Speed - 2011 21.5

Hello, I have a 2011 21.5 iMac with an i5 CPU. I have a problem with the display and the fan running at full speed. It seems that the backlight is out as I can still see the desktop with a flashlight (and hooking it up to an external monitor works fine). I have tried using a different LED board to no availability and all 4 lights on the logic board light up green.

I am getting ready to replace the display with a used unit and was wondering if the faulty backlight on the LCD itself would cause the fans to run at full speed?
