It seems that after the new update, Apple has quietly removed the backlit keyboards that existed on the older MBA's. Since the power button has been moved to the top row of "F" keys, the keyboarding lighting keys on F5 and F6 were removed. I'm just shocked that they removed the feature altogether. I'm looking at the product spec pages and indeed don't see any mentioning of the feature.

It's not something thats going to bother me, but would've been a nice feature especially if I'm working in the dark (on the plane, etc.). Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm just trying to figure out everything that came with the update.

Agreed, I barely use the backlit keyboard at home however it's been absolutely invaluable on flights.

Pity, but my glass is half full today :)

This better not be true or I am not getting it until they bring that feature back.

oh man, backlit keyboards are cool. They actually work and useful in certain situations. I'd be bummed out if that  'sans'ed' it out :(
