iPhone 8/Plus no bluetooth with phone functions

Iphone 8 with new IOS12 updates

my bluetooth ear bud works with all APs except the phone! icon disappears and no bluetooth function for any incoming calls or outgoing calls. who else has this problem?

Had the same problem with my Airpods. It is due to too many bluetooth connections to your iphone. Music still works but not the phone functions. In my case, it was my Tile trackers causing the problem.

thats ridiculous - i have several bluetooth options (wireless radio in home etc) all of which are turned off. I only use the ear bud and it worked until I updated - my mistake (again) for trusting Apple to preform due diligence.

yep, deleting all other bluetooth devices has no effect - except that I now have to re-install them. i am beginning to suspect this was an intentional push by apple to force the purchase of over priced apple branded earbuds.

unless I can find a "professional" answer - my next upgrade will be to Samsung (after 8 years of mac abuse)

Just adding that my 8 now running iOS 12 has had no problem connecting with Jabra Elite BT earbuds, so it’s not all third party accessories.
