I am curious as to why the 7200 rpm drive is not available as a BTO option on the 12" PB. Is it because of heat issues? I would really like the 7200 rpm drive, but don't want to pay to have it installed. Not sure I trust myself to do either. I've installed my own ram and things, but I don't want to get that involved taking apart a brand new powerbook and break it.

I'm not sure, with the 12" you never know if it's technical or to make the 15 and 17 look better.

Maybe because the 12" wasn't updated. The 15" and 17" were both updated with DDR2 RAM, the option for 7200 RPM HD, Superdrive, 1.67GHz and 128MB VRAM standard. The 12" is the same machine as Feb 2005.
