Would that have put them out that much, I mean really sort of basic.

Its like the stupid oversight with the case and the dock.

Come on guys lets put on our thinking caps here..

Given they did not have to think to hard to design this thing, basically an enlarged iPhone without the camera and then put hardware that's rapidly going to be obsolescent in a matter of months, you'd think they could have at least covered a few more bases..

I like it, the iPad, well enough but I think sometimes apple really tests the loyalty of their following a little too much. Their customer service has certainly not been as good as when i first starting buying, there was never a question with regard to warranty items, now its nothing but second guessing and borderline service.

Sorry folks Jobs is one greedy paranoid bastard!

None of the dozens of free calculator apps are good enough for you?

I think all of the apps they excluded from the iPad like stocks, voice memos, weather, etc. are ok because they can be replaced with better free (or paid) versions from the app store.

The only exception is the clock app. I absolutely do not understand why they did not include that. Now the only way to have an alarm clock on the iPad is to get an alarm clock app which has to remain open to work. Hopefully iPhone OS 4 brings something that will fix that issue.

Calculator would have come in handy especially since some are using these in schools and such - but yeah, "there's an app for that" :)

Thanks but i don't want a scientific calculator, that is the biggest eye sore inhale ever seen, ID buy one before using that..

It's just another one of the ways apple screwed us without telling us!

I'm thinking (and praying) that 4.0 will bring back stocks, weather, calculator and all kinds of stuff widget style!!!

I would be willing to put money on the having something to do with 4.0. They are just too simple of apps to not have included otherwise.

It looks like for some reason Apple rushed release of iPad and not all applications were ready. They'll show up in 4.0

It is funny how everyone complains that you can't get rid of certain apps on the iPhone. So apple minimizes the standard apps and people are complaining. Log onto the app store and download one of the free ones and be happy.

I totally agree. I think Apple could do some pretty cool things with the weather and clocks app if included on the iPad (even though there are some pretty nifty 3rd party apps). I just hope it's coming in OS 4.0. I cant wait to see the new software. :apple:

I'm more peeved at no native clock app. Then again, it doesn't really matter a whole lot. Have another iPhone and BlackBerry to wake me up in the morning :p

Call me a nut bag here - but if you need to keep refering to different apps that need to be downloaded to do basic things it should have (AND don't cost anything) - ummmm - maybe it is a case of style over substance.

maybe thats why the iPad is faster - cos its left a lot of things out...

Bit like bringing out a phone without MMS when every other phone had it - opps they did that 2.

Im pretty confident Dashboard will be in 4.0. It would explain the blank key on the keyboard.
