I was one of the ones initially questioning wth was Apple thinking not putting a camera in this thing. It may be space constraints, especially when you look at the location of the antenna in the 3g model. Either way, it was an extreme disappointment for me.
Then.....I thought about the amount of times I ACTUALLY video-chatted on my MBP, in the last 2 years, and I didn't even use all the fingers on one hand. I would suspect there's a lot more people like me out there. It sounds great in theory and is a great novelty that you try out when you first get it, but in actual usage--how prevalent is it?
It reminds me of the constant outcry of the iPhone not having a front-facing camera for video-chat. There's been phones on the market, particularly overseas, that have had this functionality for near a decade. Mobile providers over there would tell you however that the usage of persons for that particular feature is virtually nil. The iPad camera debacle is the new copy and paste. Unforgivable for us geeks, but barely a concern for the vast majority of the buying public. Especially once the novelty of it wears off. Just imo
