I've ordered 24" imac through apple store UK (with ipod classic, to take advantage of student promotion :) ) at 15 Oct.

they were shipped together on 19th and are estimated to be delivered by 1st Nov.

on my apple online store account it says 'in transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly' ever since the orders were shipped and no 'carrier details' yet. (it wont even say who the assigned carrier is)

I presume, from searching the forum, that i'm supposed to know where the product is, have the tracking number etc.

was wondering if this happened to anyone else in UK? or is this just normal?

That´s what happened to me earlier this month. My theory is that they just send you that information to keep you quiet while they fix the order, or catch up with the backlog. As soon as TNT or whoever pick it up you will then receive the tracking number.

You're almost in the exact same situation as me.

I ordered an iMac from the UK online store and also took advantage of the back to school offer. My order was placed on 17th October and was originally due for delivery on the 1st November. The estimated delivery date has changed to 2nd November now and there's still no tracking info, it just says "In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly". The item was "Shipped on" 23rd.

Do you think if I got onto them they could give me more information?

Locker/ I've found out a bit more on this.

For some strange reason, if I go on to the US apple online store, log in and view my orders, they actually give me the tracking number. It also says that my orders were shipped via Syncreon Technology. (From this I presume there is no problem with the actual delivery)

However the package tracing is not available from the company's website. They redirect me to 'Walsh Western' for the tracing (the two companies probably have merged or something) and my tracking number doesn't work there.

My guess is that they're not giving us the delivery detail because the carrier is not providing the tracing service at the moment.

In any case, I think I'll make use of 'Chat now' button tmr and confirm that my imac isn't lost or something

Thanks seanacy, it's all very strange! I've just tried logging into the US site and you're right, it gives more info!

It says: "Shipped on: Oct 23, 2007 via Syncreon Technology" for my AppleCare plan and iPod but nothing for my iMac :( - The tracking numbers are really long and start with "1ZW". Anyone have any clue where it can be tracked?

How come the US site is giving a tracking number anyway if the UK one isn't? It also says my "up-to-date" leopard DVD is "prepared for shipment", something the UK site fails to mention.

Hmmmm...

Edit: Upon closer inspection, my iPod and AppleCare say "Shipped on: Oct 23, 2007 via Syncreon Technology" and my iMac actually says " Shipped on: Oct 23, 2007 via Merge in Transit GB", will they come at the same time? Also, I entered my tracking number into Google and it said "Track this package via UPS". Unfortunately, there are no UPS matches for that number :(

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I would like to advertise the great point made above (for non-US customers). So, I bought a refurb mini for my Dad, it shipped today and although apple uk website had shipping info, the tracking number given wasn't in accordance with UPS. So, log into US store, check order status and I get a lovely UPS tracking number, starting with 1ZW and everything, which works on the UPS site (which I need as I need to call them and put it on hold for a few days).

Why do apple make it so difficult?!
