Lots of people made ... interesting... statements back in 2007.

Some of my favorites were from Steve Jobs telling the NY Times why third party apps were a bad idea:

“These are devices that need to work, and you can’t do that if you load any software on them.

“We define everything that is on the phone. You don’t want your phone to be like a PC. The last thing you want is to have loaded three apps on your phone and then you go to make a call and it doesn’t work anymore.

And in yet another part of that "bigger picture", Apple have sold 50 million iPhones, which only has had three models in three years (technically it's less than three years because the 3GS hasn't been on sale a full year yet), in their first attempt at a smartphone.

And since it's always 1 phone 1 year, you don't look at it like it's fragmented, but look at it just as an iPhone as whole, which is good in a way...sorry for being so vague same way you would think of razr and lg envy phones just as a 'razr' or an 'envy'.

In 2009 the world saw 172 million smart phones sold. Apple sold approx 29 million. That's about 14.5% which happens to be double the market share they held in 2008. Where is Windows Mobile??? 9% of the market in 2009, down 3 percent from 2008. Yeah... the iPhone won't be significant. Knucklehead....

Thats still a small piece of a smaller pie. The world is still dominated by cheaper crappier phones. Eventually, apple has to create a cost-reduced phones to hit other markets to get a piece of a bigger pie.
