Just recently my powermac g4 decided to stay quite while booting. Should I be concerned? I really want my chime back.

Everything else is working fine. Any ideas?

The chime won't play if you muted the volume before you shut the computer down. Also, if you have something plugged into the headphone jack, that will bypass the speakers.

Also check and make sure you have the right amout of ram on your system. One of my ram slots fried and it would no longer play the little chime.

Well I have taken out all the ram and put it back one by one. I also did this with my hard drives. I unplugged everything and plugged it back in. I reset the PRAM and zapped it.

Nothing.

I got mad and turned it off for 5 min and then turned it back on. Voila!

I don't know what was wrong. Hopefully just something loose.
