Hi,
I've just shot several videos on my 5s using Camera app. Many of them ended up out of focus. Apparently, you can only refocus manually (by touching the screen) while shooting video. As far as I remember, it wasn't the case with my 4s on iOS 6. Here are some examples (not mine):

I tried recording videos using the tweak QuickShoot Pro 2, and it refocuses automatically each time! Unfortunately, the videos shot with that tweak are not stabilized at all, for some reason. I know that the iPhone camera doesn't have OIS, but digital video stabilization on 5s works pretty well in the native app. It doesn't do me much good if the video is out of focus, though!
Does anyone know if there is a tweak that enables continuous autofocus in Camera app?

1. Regrettably, CameraTweak 2, the go-to tweak (my dedicated article here at MR) to enhance the stock Camera app, doesn't support switching between CAF and standard manual AF.

That is, your only choice is going the third party AppStore way. For example, both ProCamera (no longer in the AppStore, regrettably) and ProCamera 7 (see my article here at MR for more info) support CAF - and a lot other.

Let me know if you need more info on the AppStore apps supporting CAF.

2. IS has nothing to do with CAF, they're independent. (My dedicated article to IS' secrets if interested.)

Thank you very much for your reply, Menneisyys2.
I was wondering about Camera Tweak, since I had the previous version and haven't paid for the upgrade yet. Is there any downside to CAF mode I'm not aware of (aside from reduced battery life) that makes both Apple and Camera Tweak developers ignore it? My videos with CAF enabled look much better.

1, Focus hunting is the biggest problem - which plagues for example the LG G2 videos (this is why Apple doesn't use CAF at all in the stock client). I don't think the battery life would be that much worse.

2, I'll mail the Camera Tweak dev to ask whether he plans to implement a CAF / MAF switch.

Would love to know what you get in the email response also Menn.
