somewhere warm, dark, and cozy
Came here to report the same issue.

On my latest iMac 27: no Control Center, no Date & Time in menubar, new colorful wallpaper can’t be enabled

On my original MBP 16: all fine except Date & Time preference pane in System Preferences app is completely greyed out and no changes can be made

Same on a late-2016 MBP. They're there -- just can't see them in light mode. Can see them in dark.

I solved this one by running First Aid in disk utility FYI

This didn't work for me. Ran first aid at each level in Disk Utility, rebooted. Still only see icons in dark mode.

Edit: Turning off "reduce transparency" in accessibility fixed this for me.

I can't edit the date/time display format either. As above, all the options (in sys prefs / date & time) are greyed out. I tried various clicks on the icon and apart from discovering opt-click turns on DND, I couldn't get any any options to show.

Edit: Ooops - this is already in the "bugs" thread.

Hey, I had this same issue and fixed it by reinstalling macOS Big Sur in recovery mode without erasing my machine. Best of luck!
