Guys,
Today I went into a 3 Network UK High Street store and took out one of their SIM only plans.
The plan in general has AYCE (all You Can Eat) for everything.
Anyway, as I was leaving the shop I asked how soon it would be before the contract was 'active'. The sales assistant told me it should be up and running within the next hour max.
Now the fun bit.......
The phone side of things took three hours before it was activated and text/SMS a further two hours.
However, where I am having issues is with Data.
Under no circumstance or perseverance can I get the phone to:-
A. Display 3G at the top of the screen.
B. Obtain a 3G or Data connection.
What is shown at the top of the screen is four dots out of five and the number 3.
I'm happy that the dots indicate the signal strength but it's the number 3 that has me confused!
Why on earth can I not obtain a Data connection and connect to the Internet when my Wifi is switched off?
It has nothing to do with where I am located as the map cover informs me I am in a high strength area.
There is no 4G in my area and the assistant informed me Three have 4 & 2G switched off. As such everything including phones and text goes through 3G.
So, if both the phone and text which again are on the 3G are working then why on earth is the Data not the same?
Help........
Edited:
Solved the problem.
In case anyone else at a later date has the same issue what I did in the end was carry out a Software Reboot (Press together the Power & Bottom Button until the phone reboots).
Doing this cleared/flushed the issue. The second I turned off Wifi the 3G icon popped up.
