I inherited a dual core 2011 5,1 from someone that couldn’t get the display to show the first time I started tinkering with it a few months back. After some research one of the DIMM’s was faulty which was indicated by the red indicator lights so, great. Easy fix. I just removed another one to have the right amount of modules working and the display showed. To my surprise, it was running windows. I’m sure they must have used boot camp or something similar to make this happen. I was excited because all it needed was a better GPU being that most of the upgradable parts were already done. I did have plans to install opencore and restore this back to Mac world or perhaps something Linux based. I was able to get to the boot screen and I wasn’t able to pick the right USB drive to begin booting from USB when the power was cut off to the machine. Now, the display doesn’t seem to be showing at all. The Chime still plays and I’ve tried resetting the NVRAM, go to recovery mode and safe mode, I am even pushing F2,F9, delete or one of those options to access the BIOS none of them seem to be producing a display. My network still seems to be picking up the Windows PC name it was given so I’m assuming it’s still running windows. Not entirely sure. Can anyone shed some light or provide some assistance to get me back on track? Thanks in advance everybody.
